The novel is about River Ryland, a brave 13-year-old who lives mostly alone in a trailer with a mom who drops in and out of her life, until a visit from Social Services goes horribly wrong, and she sets off on the run.Ĭopies of the book will be available for sale at Stewart Park, thanks to Odyssey Bookstore, who will be donating 10% of all preorders and sales at the event to Family & Children’s Service of Ithaca, which Shull calls “a truly extraordinary nonprofit dedicated to supporting the needs of children and families in our community,” according to Odyssey owner Laura Larson. “A simultaneously heart-wrenching and exhilarating exploration of what we value, suspenseful and wise, Billion Dollar Girl is a deeply-felt reminder that we are inexplicably intertwined a hopeful story for our times,” says publisher Razorbill. Ithaca native Megan Shull’s latest novel lands Tuesday, and the local author has teamed up with Odyssey Bookstore and Family & Children’s Service of Ithaca to host a free “Super Awesome Party in the Park” to celebrate the release of Billion Dollar Girl. ![]()
